CERN hosted the workshop regularly organised by ALPIQ Anlagentechnik GmbH (AAT), where the associates of the member companies of the concern could personally gain insight into ongoing scientific research.
The rationale for the venue of the event was derived from the fact that KA Heidelberg GmbH (the member company of AAT) has been engaged in the research and maintenance work of the research centre for years.
Hidden among the mountains of Switzerland, in the Meyrin quarter of Geneva, we chance upon one of the most unique buildings in the world. This is where CERN (Centre Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire), one of the largest particle accelerator mechanisms, the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) was born. In its particle physics laboratory, 3000 individuals, including Hungarian colleagues, are working as permanent employees; in addition to them, approximately 6,500 visiting researchers come here annually. The goal of the centre is to provide particle accelerators for high energy physics, serving as the venue for international experimental projects.
