According to an earlier agreement, the construction works of the citric acid production factory in Szolnok started in April this year. The project company named BBCA Szolnok Biokémia Zrt. is responsible for the implementation of the project, which is 51 percent owned by the world's largest citric acid producer. Chinese partner will provide the project technology and export biochemical equipment.
The new factory, which will be built on an area of 20 hectares, will introduce an environmentally friendly process that is a modern technology in the citric acid production market, namely: extracting citric acid from fermented corn, which is much more environmentally friendly and cheaper than previously used sweet potatoes, sugar cane, sugar beet processing. Citric acid appears primarily in foods as an antioxidant, an acidity regulator. One of the most safe and widespread additives. It preserves the fat, flavor, and vitamin content of many foods.
The facility, which will be built in one and a half years, will create about 160 new jobs, and the plant will be able to produce 60,000 tons of citric acid per year using 100,000 tons of corn per year. As a raw material for this, it will have to process 100,000 tons of corn. The product thus obtained has a wide range of uses in addition to the food industry, the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
We are very proud that Kraftszer Kft. has recently won the tasks related to the substructure works of the service facilities of this investment and will start the site works soon in the spring of 2020.
