Our firm has realized as EPC-M main contractor the BIO2 project Pécs. This is one of the largest biomass power plant in Europe. This BIO2 Project meant the biggest challenge for the Kraftszer Team’s life in the last years.
During the implementation succeed in thousands of man-hours with hundreds of participants the project execution.
Scope of contract included the technological design of supply system for the boiler (from basic design to the feasibility design), implementation, start up. Such a system is e.g. the compressed air system, combustion air system, complete bale logistic, fuel cooling system etc. Highlighting the flue gas cleaning system and sludge system, which both system serves the treatment of sludge and fly ash coming from fire, have an important role of the whole project, contributing to comply the environmental regulations.
Another major task meant the electrical and I&C design, implementation. Further the architecture for the project from the break down through suiting the power plant into the existing build up to the new building, of course the architectural planning as well.
As new construction meant the main architectural challenge of the project a bale storage building with a basic area of 5500 m2 for reception of 6520 pcs. bales.
The official handover of the BIO2 project Pécs has been on the 7th November 2013.On that occasion attended by Mrs. Németh Lászlóné Minister of National Development. The new block produces 70 MW heat energy and 35 MW electrical energy; fuel material is mainly straw, lesser extent corn stem and energy reed. By the new block caused 800T cubic meter/year gas-burning and reduces with 150T Tons the output of carbon dioxide. The new block of the power plant in Pécs is the first heat and electrical energy simultaneously producing power plant in the region of Middle-East Europe, which as agricultural by-product first of all straw uses.
